Alcohol-based Hand Gel

Alcohol-based hand gel products on the market generally employ industrial alcohol. To kill “common diseases” effectively, a concentration of 70-80% is required. These products may not be able to tackle with some of the hard-to-kill bacteria such as the ones causing “Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease”. Besides, industrial alcohol would cause damage to the skin, leading to dryness, peeling, and premature aging; the higher the concentration, the greater the damage. As a matter of fact, it is not suitable for daily use.

  • Pungent
  • Leads to chapped, dry and rough skin
  • Inflammable
  • Suitable only for common bacteria and viruses
  • To be used in well-ventilated places
  • Unhealthy to the nervous system of the brain
Aroma

Aroma uses fragrance to hide the stink and hence deceive our sense of smell. It has no ability to sterilize or to decompose the odorant. Moreover, the essential oils on the market are nowadays synthetic products which will become VOC after being released in the air, posing a threat to health.

  • No sterilization ability
  • Cannot decompose odorant
  • Contains different allergens
  • Composed of chemicals
Air Purifier

Air purifier is different from “active” air defender. The actual effective range of traditional purifier is the area within 1-2 squared meters around the machine. The CHOICE magazine published by the Consumer Council has pointed out that the air filter of purifiers is a reservoir for bacteria and viruses. Improper cleaning of the filter will result in “secondary contamination”, causing more harm than good.

  • Apt to cause microbes breeding
  • Need regular cleaning and disinfection
  • Prone to cross-infection
Disinfecting Cleaning Agent

Common household disinfectants are chemical agents, and are only capable of killing germs and bacteria on the surface of objects. They do not have “stereoscopic” air disinfection ability. Long-term or excessive use would lead to side effects which is no-good to health. These cleaning agents have simple chemical structures, and will often cease to be effective when they come across with organic pollutants such as blood and vomit. Besides, they can be “decoded” by bacteria easily (leading to so-called “mutation”), which is even more calamitous.

  • No air disinfection ability
  • Frequent application required
  • To be used in well-ventilated places
  • Irritates mucous membranes, respiratory tract and skin
